About VPN Scout
We help people choose a VPN with honest, hands-on comparisons — so you don't have to wade through dozens of look-alike "top 10" lists to find one you can trust.
What we do
VPN Scout is an independent, reader-supported review site. We test the leading VPNs for speed, privacy, streaming and value, then publish clear verdicts: who each one is best for, what it really costs, and where it falls short. We'd rather tell you a cheaper VPN is enough for your needs than push the most expensive option.
How we test
Every VPN is scored on the same five criteria, using real-world checks rather than spec sheets:
- Privacy & logs — jurisdiction, independently audited no-logs claims, and DNS/IP leak protection.
- Speed — real download and upload tests on nearby and distant servers.
- Streaming — whether it reliably unblocks the major streaming services.
- Value — price per month, devices covered, and what's actually included.
- Ease of use — app quality across phone, laptop and TV, plus support quality.
We re-check pricing and feature claims when we update a page, and every review page shows its last-updated date.
How this site makes money
The short version: some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and sign up, the VPN pays us a commission. It costs you nothing extra — and it's how we keep the site free.
The important part: commissions never decide our rankings. Our verdicts are set before any links are added, we recommend the option that's genuinely the best fit, and no company can pay to change a score. We are not owned by, affiliated with, or endorsed by any VPN we review.
Corrections
Pricing and features in this space change often. If you spot something out of date or simply disagree with a verdict, tell us — we read everything and fix errors fast.
